This trek leads through pleasant lowland country, up onto a remote, uninhabited ridge with fine mountain views of four of the world's five highest peaks. The first few Days out of Basantapur are easy and pleasant, leading up to Gupha Pokhar, where Makalu's reflection simmers in the water of a pond. A trail continues up through the extensive pure rhododendron forests of the Milke Danda, past herders camps, and onto Jaljale Himal (4700 meters), a rocky ridge set with a few small lakes.
For the return, several trails run down side ridges to reach Tumlingtar.
