Manaslu Trekking Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Kathmandu arrival (1,300m), transfer to hotel
According to of your arrival time we will be waiting for you at the airport and transfer to your hotel. After that, you can have free time and at the evening.
Day 2: Drive from Kathmandu to Soti Khola (710m): 8-9 hrs
we start our wild adventure journey to the Manaslu region. We leave Kathmandu with drive for Sotikhola where we stop today. The roadway from Kathmandu till Dhading Bensi (district headquarters of Dhading) is of pitched road and further more is of rough road. During the entire journey, the nature and bio-diversity offer us to admire them and gamble the enjoyment. Our eyes will sharpen by ever running river, terrace fields & village human settlements.
Day 3: Trek from Soti Khola to Machha Khola (900m): 6-7 hrs
upon the trek starts, we cross a bridge and move through huge Sal (a timber tree) forest. The Budhi Gandaki river motivates us to climb above. The rocky trail leads the way to Khursane with waterfalls and complex ecosystems in the surrounding. The further up & down trail of sloppy terraces direct us to a Gurung inhabitant called Labubesi. We climb further more and then drop down to the sandy river beach. After the few distance walk, along the edge of river, we again go up and drop down to cross a suspension bridge. Then we reach to the Machha Khola to stop today.
Day 4: Trek from Maccha Khola to Jagat (1,410m): 6-7 hrs
The wide and straight way is rare in hills and Himalayas. So, we forward through the narrow and snaky way with a bit up & down. This twisting way makes us to cross Tharo khola, Khorlabesi and eventually to Tatopani (990m). At Tatopani, there is a small hot spring. We climb further more ridges and cross the Budhi Gandaki by a suspension bridge. The stone stairs of up and around the river goes to Yaru Khola and then to Tharo Bhayang. By there we go along the west bank of river and then climb up towards the village of Jagat for overnight stay.
Day 5: Trek from Jagat to Deng (1,804m): 6-7 hrs
The rocky ridges are decorated by beautiful environment. We feel gorgeous along the way to Salleri and then down to Sirdibas. We climb up after crossing a long suspension bridge and meet a big Gurung village called Philim. The trail goes north along the millet fields of Ekle Bhatti and again down to the bank of Budhi Gandaki river. Upon ascending from the bank, we pass through the bamboo forests and to Deng Khola. A small village of Deng welcomes us as we cross the Khola. Overnight stay at local teahouse
Day 6: Trek from Deng to Namrung (2,630m): 6-7 hrs
Today we walk in and around of Budhi Gandaki for several time. Firstly we make a short hike from Deng to cross Budhi Gandaki and then climb to Rana. From there we move towards Budhi Gandaki valley. The diverse relief feature of the place eventually brings us to Pork Village. The village offers us the sight of magnetic view of Siringi Himal. In plus steps, we go to cross Budhi Gandaki and to the dense forests. The same fantastic up and down trial continues till we reach Namrung where we stay tonight.
Day 7: Trek from Namrung to Samagaun (3,530m)- 6-7 hrs
Siring, Ganesh (7,422m) and Himal Chuli’s (7,893m) fantastic view is the specialty of Namrung village (2,630m). From the village we climb up through forest to reach to Lihi. Then we pass through the valleys, Sho, Lho, Shyala and then to Sama villages. The Lho village (3,180m) is the perfect place to view Mt. Manaslu (8,163m) and also has great religious significance which is distinct by Ribung Gompa. While we are at Shyala village, we will be surrounded by mountains from 360 degree such as by Manaslu (8,163m), Himal chuli (7,893m), Peak 29, Ganesh (7,422m) and many others. Our journey today breaks by Samagaun.
Day 8: Trek from Samagaon to Pungyen gompa - Samagaon: 6-7 hrs
This is our exploration as well as acclimatization day. Samagaun is highly influence by Sherpa culture and Buddhism. We can understand and enjoy the cultural values, lifestyle, mani stones and many Gompas there. Mani stones consist of Buddhist slogans, text and pictures. Near to the next hill of village, there is an old monastery called Pungyen Gompa and is the perfect place to view glacier. We do hike around and overnight stay in Samagaun.
Day 9: Trek from Samagaon to Samdo (3,860m): 4-5 hrs
The trek starts by descend to the Budhi Gandaki river. Then we direct north and on crossing a bridge of a stream, we take left which lead us towards Manaslu Base Camp (4,400m). Several mani walls are seen when the valley begins and we continue by shelf above the river. This trail to the kermo kharka is covered by birch and juniper forest. On crossing the Budhi Gandaki River, we do ascend towards a large white Kani made by stone arch. Then we pass the Kani to meet Semdo (3,8620m) for night stay.
Day 10: Rest Day in Samdo
As more as we go up, it will be a bit tougher to fit with the environment. Thus, we take one more acclimatization day here. While staying, we have two alternatives to do for the day. Either we can go hiking to a valley back of the Samdo or we can make a trip to Gya La (i.e. a large pass) at the north. The hike to valley offers us sterling views of Manaslu (8,163m), Himalchuli (7,331m), Simnang (6,251m), Larkye peak (6,249m), Cheo and lots more. The way is one of the trade pass to Tibet also. Mountain birds as like Lophophorus (national bird of Nepal), Lammergeyer and Himalayan Griffin are other more additional natural attractions. The Gya la is the famous trading route to Tibet. Overnight stay in Samdo.
Day 11: Trek from Samdo to Dharamsala/Larkya B. C. (4,460m): 4-5 hrs
For the day, we start our trek on downhill. The descend ends by Budhi Gandaki river. Here we cross the river for the last time and on crossing the wooden bridge, trail goes up. We pass Larkya Bazaar (4,090m), valley of Salka Khola on upon crossing some streams. The fantastic Larkya glacier lovingly welcomes us and motivates to climb up. There we get a kind of shelter called Dharmsala which is not exactly the lodge but easy enough to stay today. The place is also called Larke Phedi. Night stay in Dharmashala
Day 12: Trek from Dharamsala to Larkya la (5,160m) - Bimthang (3,590m): 8-9 hrs
today we continue from longitudinal face of Larkya glacier by the north side. The glacier offers us the finest view of Larkya peak (6,249m) and Cho danda as well. From the glacier, we make gradual ascend and later steep up to Larkya la pass (5160m). This highest point of entire trek is perfect place to admire beauty of Nepal with the spark of Cheo himal, Himlung himal Kangguru and massive Annapurna II (7,937m). The steep descend ahead leads us to Bhimthang. Even though the trek today is longer, the stunning surrounding of Himalayan landmass makes us to forget all physical difficulties by securing excellent mental refreshment. Overnight at Bimthang.
Day 13: Trek from Bimthang to Tilije (2,300m): 5-6 hrs
Early in the morning when first sun rays strike in the whole Manaslu range, it reflects to sharpen our eyes once more. Today mostly we walk downhill to reach Tilije. By crossing some bridges over streams and along the rocky trail, we pass Yak Kharka and to a cultivated land of Kharche. The area is covered by Rhododendron forests. The Kharche is followed by a steep climb over the ridge and down to the Gho village. Above the Gho village, there is a superb view point of Manaslu. The further gradual downhill brings us to Tilije for overnight stay.
Day 14: Trek from Tilije to Tal (1,700m): 5-6 hrs
Today we make the journey up to Tal. The trek forwards by stone paved trail, crossing of bridge over Dudh khola and some mani walls to the Thonje village. From the next village Dharapani, we enter in the Annapurna circuit section. Karte village is another human settled place on our journey. Further down, we cross Marshyangdi Khola bridge, and several Buddhist shrine: mani walls to reach Tal village. It’s a beautiful village decorated specially by a large waterfall. Overnight in Tal.
Day 15: Trek form Tal to Syange (1,080m): 6-7 hrs
After morning breakfast, we leave Tal by crossing Marshyandi Khola. For the whole trek today we walk along side of Marshyangdi Khola. We pass by two large villages: Chamje (1,430m) and Jagat (1,300m). The trail route is characterized by terrace fields, green hills and the forests of pine and rhododendron trees. Our today’s destination will be Syange and is also the last point of our trek.
Day 16: Drive from Syange to Kathmandu: 8-9 hrs drive
Today we are returning back to Kathmandu by drive. From Syange, we catch the bus or other private vehicle and come back via Besi Sahar (760m). The streamline of Marshyangdi and Trishuli River direct us for most of our way. The amazing landscapes, terraces, water bodies, disparate human settlements etc. are running in our eyes for the last time. On arrival in Kathmandu, we will be transfer to our hotel. Overnight stay in Kathmandu hotel.
Day 17: Departure transfer
At about 3 hours prior to your flight time, we transfer you to the airport to fly your onward destination.
