The trekking trail of Everest Base Camp and Kalapathar

This legendary trek of Everest Base Camp and Kalapathar begin with the stirring mountain flight for Lukla from Kathmandu after exploration of major Kathmandu Heritage Sightseeing. Lukla the famous trekking point of Everest Region which takes you to the popular village town of Namche Bazaar also known as the gateway of Khumbu. From Namche Bazaar we will head onwards to quiet monasteries and encounter with the Sherpa folks of the region and observe their culture is worth visiting. During trekking trail, we will explore Sagarmatha National Park, the home to rare and endanger flora and fauna.  Trekking trail goes through the beautiful and deep forest of rhododendron, pine, birch with vibrant settlements. The warm hospitality of the Sherpa community will welcome all the trekkers. Then further pleasant trekking trail will offer us numerous teahouses where you can get good grub and a cozy bed for shelter. Finally reached at the  Everest Base Camp and admire the camp and return back to Kathmandu by following the famous views point Kalapathar from where we will have striking views of the Himalayas and sunrise and sunset including rewarding close up views of Mount Everest (8848m), Ama Dablam (6812m), Nuptse (7861m), Mount Pumori (7161m), Thamserku (6623m),  Cho Oyu (8188m), Lhotse (8516m), Imja Tse/Island Peak(6160m) and several other peaks.

Details Itinerary

Day1: Arrival in Kathmandu Airport - (1360m.) 

  • Arrive at the airport in the Kathmandu
  • Adventure Geo Treks, one of the representatives will welcome you and drove you to your hotel
  • Hotel check-in and take some time for refreshments.
  • Enjoy welcome drinks with our team
  • Introduce with the trekking guide
  • One of our representatives will provide you short orientation class about further trek of Everest Base Camp with Kalapathar.
  • Stroll around the Thamel Bazaar in-order to make place familiar.
  • Have dinner and stay overnight in the hotel at Kathmandu.

Day2: Kathmandu Valley sightseeing

  • Morning breakfast and whole day explore Kathmandu Sightseeing in Kathmandu with Adventure Geo Treks guide.
  • Explore the major heritage sites such as; Pashupatinath temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Swyambunath Stupa, and Royal Kathmandu Durbar Square.
  • As you reach to the hotel be prepared for the next day trek (put essential equipment into your backpack)
  • Have dinner and stay overnight in the same hotel.

 

Day 3: Flight to Lukla and trek to Phakding - (2,652m) 3/4 hrs walk

  • Morning breakfast and departure
  • Take domestic flight for Lukla, from Kathmandu.
  • Enjoy a thrilling scenic flight to Lukla
  • Around 40 minutes flight will offer you stunning views of the beautiful landscapes and mountains in the below.
  • Land at Lukla and begin the trek to Phakding, which is situated at the elevation of the 2640m.
  • Continue trek descending down towards Dudh Koshi River.
  • Around 3 to 4-hour trek to Phakding offers you Mani stone walls, several stone tablets and huge sculpted boulders, brilliant brightly-colored paints villages on the way.
  • During today’s trek, spectacular view of Mt Nupla(5885m), Kusum Kangaru(6367m) and the Mount Kwangde Range will accompany you.
  • Have dinner and stay overnight in the guest house at Phakding.

 Day4: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar - (3,440m) 6 hrs walk 

  • Morning breakfast and departure
  • Continue trek through following Sherpa Village and magnificent pine forest and north up the Benkar valley.
  • Cross the beautiful Dudh Koshi River and pass Chumoa and Monjo villages
  • On the way to Everest Base Camp, you can enjoy splendid views of Kusum Kangru(6369m), Thamserku(6608m), Nuptse (7879m), and Everest(8848m). 
  • Enter into the Everest National Park.
  • Cross a suspension bridge and pass Jorsale village.
  • Trek alongside the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers.
  • Ascend steep trail and reach Namche Bazaar, biggest Sherpa town over that area.
  •  Have dinner and stay overnight in the hotel of Namche Bazaar.

 Day5: Acclimatization in Namche Bazaar - (3440m) 

  • Morning breakfast and whole day explore the place.
  • Namche Bazaar is the biggest Sherpa bazaar where you can find ATMs, internet cafes, shops, restaurants, and a colorful market.
  • Make a short hike up to Khumjung from where you can enjoy spectacular views of the mountains.
  • Trek Ascend to Sagarmatha National Park
  • Enjoy the sunrise over the Himalayas including Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kongde and other associated mountains from Everest Hotel view.
  • Trek to Khumjung village and visit the Hillary School and a monastery.
  • Have a special local Sherpa dinner and stay overnight in the hotel of Namche Bazaar.

 Day6: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche - (3,860m) 5 hrs walk 

  • Morning breakfast and departure
  • Start our trek towards Tengboche enjoying a superb view of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam and close up view of Thamserku.
  • Continue trek by following Dhudh Koshi River and goes to Phungi Tenga village.
  • Follow gradual trail with few ups and downs
  • Ascend towards Tengboche village where you can explore holy Gompa.
  • Visit famous Tengboche monastery, the biggest monastery of the Everest region.
  • Visit Sagarmatha National Park, UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • Visit monastery with the panoramic views of the Himalayas, including Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku.
  • Visit Tengboche Monastery and observe a Buddhist religious ceremony.
  • Have dinner and stay overnight in the guest house of Tengboche.

 Day7: Trek from Tengboche to Pheriche - (4,410m) 5 hrs walk 

  • Morning breakfast and departure
  • Continue downhill trek and through follow the beautiful forest with attached Imja Khola nearby.
  • Climb steadily up to Pangboche from where you can have stunning views of the Ama Dablam with 6,856m altitude because it is situated directly opposite to Pangboche.
  • Explore century old Gompa, Mani Walls, and scattered pine trees in the foreground.
  • The further around 2 hours trek will lead us to the Pheriche. 
  • Have dinner and stay overnight in the Guesthouse of the Pheriche.

 Day8: A day to rest and chill out - (4,410m) 

  • Early morning breakfast and enjoy the day to explore Pheriche.
  • Explore the valley and admire the beautiful lake.
  • Also, discover Tshola Tsho and the perpendicular walls of Cholatse and Tawache.
  • Continue trek climb up onto the ridge overlooking Dingboche for the view of the Imja Valley and the incredible south face of Mt. Lhotse.
  • Have dinner and stay overnight in the guest house of the Pheriche.

 Day9: Trek to Lobuche - (4,910m) 5 hrs walk 

  • Morning breakfast and departure
  • Continue to ascend trek and follow the Yak farm and enjoy splendid views of the Tawache Peak (6,542m) and Cholatse peak (6,440m)
  • Continue trek through Dinboche to Duglha.
  • Explore the splendid Mt. Pumori
  • Descends down and cross a stream and ascend to Duglha, a tiny village.
  • Witness prayer flags
  •  Visit the Memorial Shrine.
  • Ascend to the steep terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier.
  • Trek through the boulder-strewn slopes and ascend to Chupki Lhara
  • Enjoy spectacular mountain views and various colors prayer flags and memorial shrines stones.
  • Descend down to the Khumbu Glacier moraine with the splendid views of Khumbutse, Lingtren, Pumori and Mahalangur Himal.
  • Enjoy witnessing Mt. Nuptse.
  • Have dinner and stay overnight in the guest house of Lobuche.

 Day10: Trek to Everest Base Camp and back to Gorakshep for the night - (5400m) 8 hrs walk 

  • Early morning breakfast and departure
  • Continue trek by following beautiful meadows and moraine stones steps until you will reach to Gorakshep.
  • The further climb up will take us to the famous viewpoint called Kala Patthar or continue heading to Everest base camp.
  • Enjoy stunning views of Himalayas from Kala Patthar, get to see the entire south face of Mt. Everest and well-known peaks nearby.
  • Further trek to will take us to Mt. Everest Base Camp and explore the Camp.
  • After exploration, we will trek back to Gorakshep.
  • Have dinner and stay overnight in the lodge at Gorakshep.

 Day11: Trek to Pheriche. via Kala Patthar - (4210m) 7 hrs walk 

  • Early morning breakfast and departure
  • Continue trek to the famous viewpoint called Kalapathar, which is situated at the elevation of the 4210m.
  • Enjoy impressive views of the sunrise and stunning mountains views of the Everest region.
  • Enjoy exploring the mountains including Mt. Lingtren, Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Pumori, Mt. Khumbetse, Mt. Nuptse, and Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Thamserku and many more associated peaks.
  • Further trek to will take us to the Pheriche by following the quite tough terrain.
  • Witness and explore perpendicular walls of Cholatse and Tawache.
  • Have dinner and stay overnight in the guest house of the Pheriche.

 

Day12: Trek back to Namche - (3440m) 6 hrs walk 

  • Early morning breakfast and departure
  • Continue trek back to Namche Bazaar.
  • It takes around 6 hours from Pheriche to reach to Namche.
  • Explore the bustling & hustling village town of Namche Bazaar.
  • Have dinner and stay overnight at lodge in Namche.

 Day13: Trek to Lukla - (2800m) 7 hrs walk 

  • Morning breakfast and departure
  • Continue to descend down the trail back to Lukla from Namche Bazaar through the rocky terrain.
  • Trek downhill alongside the Dudh Koshi River.
  • Cross several beautiful suspension bridges on the way.
  • Explore the several monasteries and village and finally reach Lukla.
  • It takes around 7 hours trek to reach to Lukla.
  • Have dinner and stay overnight in the hotel of Lukla.

 Day14: Flight back to Kathmandu

  • Morning breakfast and departure
  • Take a morning domestic flight to Kathmandu from Lukla
  • Around 40 minutes scenic flight will offer you once splendid mountain views and the vibrant settlement below you.
  • As you reach the hotel at Kathmandu after hotel check-in you can take a rest and enjoy with the images which were captured during the trek.
  • In the evening, you can do some souvenir shopping, if you want.
  • Have dinner and stay overnight in the same hotel in Kathmandu.

 Day15: Departure to your destination

  • Early morning breakfast and departure
  • Hotel check-out and one of the representatives of Adventurous Geo Treks will help you to find your final destination
  • He/She will drop you to the airport before 3 hours of your flight.
  • Wish you have a safe flight to your homeland.
