We leave for the land of the wide and lonely plateaus and the deep valleys between the Himalayas and the Trans Himalaya. After a spectacular flight you will land in the Yarlung valley and drive to Lhasa, the spiritual center Tibet, visited by pilgrims from far and wide. We have two full days to experience Lhasa.
Past the Yamdrok Lake and across the passes of the Karo La (5010m) and the Simi La we drive to Gyantse and Shigatse. Here we will visit the famous monasteries of Palkhor Chode and Tashilunpo. The drives cross the passes offer magnificent panoramic views. We drive across the 5200m Pang La to the starting point of our trek east of Makalu and Everest. We wander through the green forests and pastures of the Karta valley past clear mountain lakes and ascend to the passes of Shao La (4970m) and Langma La, which at 5270m is the highest pass on our trek. With clear weather we can see the north side of Makalu and Chomolonzo and the east and north side of Everest. Equally impressive is the flora on the wide meadows.
After the trek we drive in jeeps to Rongbuk, the monastery at the foot of Everest. The north face of Everest is breath taking. We have plenty of time to discover the Base Camp of Everest and the vicinity. Later we return via Tingri and Zhangmu to Katmandu.
